Naughty or Nice Lighthouse Cinema

It simply isn’t Christmas-time without the likes of LOVE ACTUALLY, DIE HARD, THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL, and your other festive favourites and the line-up this year is a cracker!
Buddy The Elf is back on the big screen daily from 4th December with a very special re-release of ELF, while Warner Brothers are releasing a very special 4k restoration of Joe Dante’s GREMLINS from Dec 6th.
From 29th November there will be limited screenings of a brand new 20th anniversary restoration of Stanley Kubrick’s EYES WIDE SHUT with a specially commissioned short documentary NEVER JUST A DREAM.
This year’s festive party on December 7th is a massive HOME ALONE PARTY with loads of mischievous fun and games throughout the building. As always, Christmas attire and costumes are encouraged!

NMI: Crafting your Christmas

Take a step back from the hustle and bustle of shopping and drop-in to the National Museum of Ireland for a very special day of seasonal events.

This Christmas open day is all about making and crafting! Come along to one of our workshops or take a Christmas Trail around the Museum. Love Actually Live in Concert

Sustainable Christmas Market

Between food, wrapping paper, unused/unwanted gifts… people seem to forget the ‘waste not, want not’ mentality and lose the run of themselves slightly. Any small little change you can do to try and combat the damage makes a big difference. Take shopping at the Sustainable Christmas Market, for example. Organised by Native Event’s, it will take place in D-Light Studios this Christmas, the festivities run December 6th -8th.

Christmas Card Workshop

For over thirty years, Seamus Heaney produced his own Christmas Cards featuring poems he had written, special illustrations and a personal, handwritten message to each recipient. This Christmas, you can continue Heaney’s special tradition. Taking inspiration from Seamus Heaney’s own cards and poetry, children will get the chance to create two Christmas cards to take home and gain a helpful insight into the life and work of one of Ireland’s best-loved poets.

Nightmare before Christmas

Never before seen in Ireland, multiple award-winning composer, songwriter and reigning Pumpkin King, Danny Elfman will be bringing Disney’s timeless classic, Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” to life on 8th December 2019 at 3Arena as part of the movie’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Performing his role of Jack Skellington, Danny Elfman will be joined by other original cast members Catherine O’Hara as Sally, and Ken Page as the voice of Oogie Boogie with full orchestral accompaniment by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Conductor John Mauceri, Founding Director of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, will be leading the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and a choir performing the film’s classic score and songs live to picture. The concert will also include featured violin soloist, Sandy Cameron.

Do It For Darragh

This event is in loving memory of Darragh Lawless, who lost his battle with mental illness earlier this year.

All the money raised by ticket sales and donations on the night will go to Jigsaw. Jigsaw is organisation that is there to ensure that no young person feels alone, isolated and disconnected from others around them. They provide vital supports to young people with their mental health by working closely with communities across Ireland.

DCFE Presents: Christmas Craft Village

Please come and join Dundrum College of Further Education for their annual Craft Fair on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th December.   It will take place at Main Street Dundrum from 12 – 6pm, there is no admission charge, and is in aid of St. Vincent de Paul.

Dundrum CFE has served the community of Dundrum for decades and this Craft Fair gives the Art & Design students a unique opportunity to showcase a range of wonderful Christmas gifts, handmade by aspiring Irish craftspeople, including an amazing array of beautiful ceramics. The Craft Fair is organised by students and is totally voluntary.

Thursday 12th December also marks the launch of the 2020 Prospectus for Dundrum CFE.  To mark the occasion the staff and students are hosting a Christmas Village event that will offer delicious baked goods, music and entertainment, a relaxation hub, and wreath making by horticulture students.

Sing for Simon

Each year ‘Sing for Simon’ brings together over 100 groups and choirs who sing Christmas carols and songs in various locations across Dublin. Whether you sing in a choir, a band, or even just in the shower, we’d love you to join our campaign for 2019.

Choirs, companies, schools, and even groups of friends can join in the musical fun by Singing for Simon. Gather your group and arrange your carol singing event in your local area, or use one of the pre-booked locations! They’ll provide the Santa hats and buckets, you bring the tunes and festive cheer! Their 24-hour Carolathon starts on Friday, 20th December on Grafton Street. They need lots of bucket shakers to support the choirs throughout Friday and Saturday. If you can help on your own or with a group, They’d love to hear from you!

Moya Brennan - An Irish Christmas

Moya Brennan, the Voice of Clannad, brings An Irish Christmas to Monkstown for an 12th year. This year’s special guest will be announced soon and, as always, the young traditional musicians of Craobh Phiarais ui Ghrégáin.
Proceeds from the concert go to the Craobh Music club and the Monkstown Church Restoration Fund.

ELF - A Christmas Spectacular
