Join artist Kim Jenkinson for this children’s art workshop where they will be creating their own little worry dolls, using fabric, wool and other embellishments supplied in an art pack from the library.

Chester Beatty Online Annual Lecture 2021
The origins of senshafuda and pilgrimage go back more than 1000 years. These votive prayer slips marked with pilgrims’ names were devoted (and indeed pasted) to temples in a practice of faith that achieved particular popularity during the travel boom of Japan’s Edo period (c. 1603–1868). Today, the tradition is kept alive through the medium of print and the enthusiasm of members of nōsatsu-kai.

On Valentine’s Day axis Ballymun will begin broadcasting short programmes at 9am, 12 noon, 6pm and midnight, to offer you a few minutes of calm, of beauty, of distraction, of contemplation. These will feature creative and artistic works from 30 artists specially curated by axis. These will be broadcast on axis Facebook and Youtube. Poems, Visual Arts, Music, Song, Silence. This programming will run up to Easter 2021 and all the programmes will also be available to watch at a time of your choosing on axis’ youtube. This programme is made possible by donations to the axis arts development fund 2021.
